Visiting Ypres

Take a day trip to the pretty town of Ypres. Start your visit in the Grande Place at the main museum, In Flanders Fields Museum, dedicated to World War I. This is one of the town’s iconic monuments and bears witness to the inhabitants’ painful past, when the town was destroyed during the war. It provides a gripping, interactive experience. Next, continue walking along the town’s wonderful lanes and step inside the St George’s Church, then end your walk at the famous Menin Gate which commemorates World War I and the 54,896 soldiers who perished.

Visiting Lille

Only a few kilometres from Ypres you can cross the Belgian border and reach the beautiful city of Lille in France. Here, you can explore each of the city’s districts. We particularly recommend visiting the Grand’ Place and the charming Vieux-Lille district with its many influential buildings including the Palais Rihour, Vieille Bourse, Rang du Beauregard and Notre-Dame de la Treille cathedral.
